Take The People’s Oath
Friday, January 20, Noon
The steps of Burlington City Hall (Church St. side)
Come take “the people’s oath” with other Vermonters and pledge to fight back as citizens of this country for the next four years. We will recite an altered presidential oath—rewritten for the people!—and then sign our names to a large parchment committing ourselves to not letting this become normal and finding small and large ways to fight back for the next four years.
Whole action will be fast, so please be on time for noon. We will being when the City Hall bells ring.
1. a BOOK OF MEANING, (religious, activist, or whatever you draw faith and inspiration from), for you (to put your hand on to swear/affirm from).
2. a MARKER to sign your name to the big scroll we will have the oath written out on.
Please spread the word for this lunchtime action! All are invited.
CAN’T MAKE THE ACTION AT NOON? TAKE A PROXY OATH!
We will have a large scroll with the oath and sharpees for citizens to sign their name after the oath. Take the oath at home (yes, hold up your hand, grab your favorite book of meaning, and say it out loud). Then, comment in this FB event page that you swore/affirmed to the oath and we will add your name to the scroll.

And, I will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States by resisting, taking action, and disrupting acts of oppression and attacks on the civil rights of my fellow Americans.”
